True Cost of Commuting in Atlanta
ByDid you know many Atlantans are spending more of their income on transportation than housing, that’s according to the Center for Housing Policy that showed “workforce households in Atlanta spend an average of 29 percent of their income on shelter-related costs and an additional 32 percent on transportation costs.” Another report out this year from the Urban Land Institute found similar results showing it can actually be cheaper to have a larger mortgage in an inner-ring suburb than to live further out with a cheaper mortgage, but a costly commute. The average annual costs of owning a car range from $9,000 to $12,000 (gas, maintenance, depreciation, insurance, and interest on a note).
Cutting back on commuting costs (and the time wasted in a car) is one of the reasons many home buyers give for purchasing a Brock Built home. The Commons at Historic Westside is one of Brock Built’s newest in town communities that is ideal for those wanting to get out of their cars. Home owners can lock up their car in the garage of their historically inspired townhouse and catch a ride a block away at the Ashby Marta station or hop on a bike on the PATH trail that runs down Carter St. on the northern edge of The Commons. To make it even more affordable, Brock Built is now offering an $8000 buyer bonus. Call 404.472.5707 for more information.
